    Common precision stamping materials and selection

    1. Common materials for precision stamping

    The most common materials used in precision stamping are metallic materials (including ferrous and nonferrous metals), but sometimes nonmetallic materials are also used.Among them, the ferrous metals mainly include ordinary carbon structural steel, high-quality carbon structural steel, alloy structural steel, carbon tool steel, stainless steel, electrical silicon steel, etc.Non-ferrous metals are mainly pure copper, brass, bronze, aluminum, etc.Non-metallic materials are cardboard, laminate, rubber board, plastic board, fiberboard and mica, etc.

    The supply state of metal materials for precision stamping is generally various specifications of sheet and strip materials.Sheet material can be used for the production of engineering die, strip material (coil material) for the production of continuous die, also can be used for the production of engineering die.The size of the sheet material is large, it can be used for stamping large parts, can also be used for stamping small and medium-sized parts after cutting the sheet material into strips according to the layout size;Tape material (also known as coil material) has a variety of specifications of width, the length of expansion can be up to tens of meters, into a coil supply, suitable for continuous mold mass production of automatic feeding.

    The selected material shall enable the stamping parts to work normally in the machine or parts and have a certain service life.Therefore, the selected material should meet the requirements of strength, stiffness, toughness, corrosion resistance and heat resistance according to the working conditions of the stamping parts.

    (2) select materials reasonably according to the requirements of precision stamping process

    For any kind of stamping parts, the selected material should be able to according to the requirements of its stamping process, stable forming without cracking or wrinkling qualified products, which is the most basic and most important material selection requirements.For this purpose, the following methods can be used to reasonably select materials.

    1) try to rush.According to the previous production experience and possible conditions, several kinds of sheet materials that can meet the requirements of stamping parts are selected for test blanking.The result of this method is more intuitive, but it has great blindness.

    Analysis and comparison.Based on the analysis of stamping deformation properties, the maximum deformation degree during stamping forming is compared with the limit deformation degree allowed by the stamping forming performance of sheet metal, and the sheet metal suitable for the stamping process of the part is selected as the basis.

    In addition, the same brand or the same thickness of the plate, there are cold rolling and hot rolling.In our domestic plate, thick plate (t >4mm) is hot rolled plate, thin plate (t<4mm) is cold rolled plate (also have hot rolled plate).Compared with hot-rolled plate, cold-rolled plate has the advantages of precise size, small deviation, less surface defects, bright surface, compact internal structure and better stamping performance.
